Art trade for Jack [link] of his characters Rain and Mana [link] . He asked me to draw them doing something interesting inside a cafe.

So I tried picturing out a nice scene in my mind and started doodling as soon as I got a good feel of the scene and the atmosphere of the mental image. Of course, the cafe turned out into a diner, but what the heck. Enjoyed this way too much which accounts for the splurge in details. Wrapped it up with a flat, not too saturated palette (I hope!) to keep the details visible. Took me about 4 hours from start to finish. No idea who Rain and Mana are looking at. I'll just leave that to your imagination :)

I think this scene happened to all of us at least once. There you are, hanging out with your best buds, enjoying a lazy Saturday afternoon out when all of a sudden someone totally unexpected walks in and the crowd just hushes for a minute or two. If you haven't had this experience, you should be ashamed of yourself and should go sit in a corner right now. :P

Oh wonderful work! There is so much detail I don't know where to begin. I think the characterization is great because all of the details reflect these two. The empty french fry trays, the tennis racket case, the trick-or-treat grocery bag, the cute outfit on one and kind of different artisty looking one on the other, there's just so much. Plus, both their body language and expressions at seeing ??? are so funny! Really love this one!
